Herb and Garlic Loaf

Ingredients

450g (1lb)Fine wholemeal flour
1 level tblsp of baking powder
1 level tees salt
75g ( 3oz ) Butter
50g (1oz) Grated mature cheddar cheese
2 Garlic cloves crushed
1 small onion peeled and grated
2 tblsp of freshly chopped parsley
250ml (1/2 pt) Milk
seasoning
2 medium eggs
Glaze
Beaten egg and sesame seeds


Preheat oven to 190C (375oF).Gas mark 5

Method:
Grease a loose bottom 20cm(8") cake tin

Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl

Rub in the butter and stir in the remaining ingredients

Divide the mixture into 6 even pieces

Roll the pieces in balls and arrange five around the outside of the tin and one in the centre

Brush with a little beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds

Bake for 50mins until cooked through and golden brown

Cool on a wire tray before cutting
